Individual Responsibility/Romeo & Hamlet
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page essay that examines Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet." The writer argues that, at first glance, the male protagonists appear to be propelled along by the action of each play. However, a closer examination of each of these works shows that, in each case, Shakespeare makes it clear that both Romeo and Hamlet must bear some responsibility for the tragic circumstances of their own demise. Romeo and Hamlet make choices that contribute to the tragic endings of these plays. Furthermore, there is the implication in each play that tragedy might have been avoided by the use of reason, rather than an over-reliance on emotion. No additional sources cited.

Kenneth Branagh And Franco Zeffirelli's "Hamlet" – Comparison
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages in length. Many have tried to match the integrity of Shakespeare's Hamlet when creating a film version of the classic story, however, few have been able to capture the disposition, direction, artistry or script precision as straightforwardly as in Kenneth Branagh's version. Comparing this movie to that of Franco Zeffirelli's celebrated adaptation, one cannot help but identify myriad inconsistencies in the latter's overall approach that draws away from the appreciation of Shakespeare's fundamental application, not the least of which includes the differing components mentioned above. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
