Analyzing A Stressful Situation
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. The stressful situation that took place at the wedding speaks to the variations in social communication that govern one's existence. While the people meant no intentional harm, their otherwise intrusive questions and underlying accusations caused the student to feel as though she were being somewhat disparaged for having gained what society deems as an extraordinarily significant amount of weight. Her inability to confidently confront these questions and criticism only served to make her feel that much more ill at ease with the entire event until the rising stress level caused her to seek refuge in the bathroom where her frustration and humiliation poured out in tears. Indeed, this interaction illustrates the manner by which people are bound by certain social criteria they have developed throughout their lives, often to the extent of being ill-equipped to handle such intense interpersonal contact. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
